The pox is back for round 2. R's case is mild, but C is really taking a beating. Last night she couldn't sleep, so I dragged the futon mattress into the living room and she had a midnight Miyazaki fest--back to back Nausicaa and Spirited Away (R and I kept her company, but we slept.) I expect this is the peak of misery for her; tomorrow should be much better.
Yesterday afternoon I stopped by my favorite art supply store and picked up a couple of packs of origami paper. I needed something quick and simple. Origami paper was an excellent choice. T has spent most of the day folding paper. We now have an entire menagerie of paper animals, and a rainbow of paper dresses. Unfortunately, we only have a few sheets of paper left! Hopefully I'll be able to get back up there tomorrow after D comes home from work. Here's a neat site with animated instructions, should you find yourself cooped up with nothing to do: Origami Club.

Chicken Pox
Maybe this is a divine sign.
Or maybe it's just a good opportunity.
At any rate, we have reached a point of enforced time at home. This is a good thing. I have had a lot of frustration with trying to maintain my usual pace without my right hand. Now, even if I wanted to, I can't.
T has the chicken pox. She erupted in blisters last night. R is cranky with a low-grade fever, but no blisters yet (C is right as rain, and chomping for stuff to do.)
With time to kill, a roaring headache and nothing on tv, T dug through the videos, and pulled out some oldie but goodies: The Land Before Time series. It's been years since we've seen them, but I found myself folding laundry and singing along to one of my favorite songs "Friends for Dinner."
R is fascinated with the dinosaurs who go "ROAR!" Yesterday he had a couple of toy T-Rex in his hand, telling D that they were "bad dinosaurs." D replied that they aren't bad, they're just hungry. He brought them to breakfast today and tried to feed them his cereal. I love it when kids put it all together--those moments are the brightest spots in my day.
